Grace the Intern
My name is Grace Tweedy and I am the latest addition to the Engine Books family. I am currently a senior at Purdue University and am sprinting towards graduation. Although daunting, that day could not come any sooner.
During my last semester as an undergraduate in Professional Writing, I will be helping Engine Books in any way that I can (mostly publicity). I have a full semester head of me: learning the ways of my Yoda (Ms. Victoria Barrett), making phone calls, Skype-ing, writing emails, and making cupcake runs for our meetings; after all, sustenance is key to productivity. Throughout my undergraduate education I have learned aspects of Information Design, rhetoric, and even a bit of design. Having had many chances to work with real clients on real products and projects, these skills are (finally) ready to be put to the test with this new internship. With these experiences under my belt, I hope to bring something special to Engine Books, or at least help it continue in the great direction that it has already begun to travel.
I’m hoping to come out of my time with Engine Books a little more experienced and having gained a general idea of where I fit in the publishing world. Who knows? Maybe I’ll find my niche this semester. I look forward to working with all those associated with the press. Wish me luck!
Editor’s note: Grace will be posting here from time to time about goings on at the press, and also about issues and ideas of interest to us book nerds. If you have any requests along those lines, drop them in the comments and we’ll see what we can do. You can reach Grace at publicity@enginebooks.org. –Victoria
Welcome, Grace!
Oh, blargh. It’s grace@enginebooks.org, not publicity@enginebooks.org. And don’t go writing her just because she’s pretty, either. I know how you are.
